A wool carpet does something a machine-made rug cannot — it carries the memory of hands that made it. At Pequra, every handmade wool carpet in this collection is hand-tufted, hand-knotted, or handwoven by skilled artisans working from our Noida facility, backed by Shree Sai International's 40 years in rug manufacturing.

Whether you need a wool carpet for your living room, bedroom, or a larger open space, this collection covers the full range — from dense hand-knotted pile rugs to light handwoven flatweaves.
What Makes Natural Wool Different
Wool fibres have a natural crimp — a tiny built-in spring — that makes the pile bounce back after being walked on. Unlike synthetic alternatives, 100% natural wool doesn't flatten over time. This is why a well-cared-for wool carpet lasts 15 to 20 years, sometimes longer.
Wool also regulates temperature without any chemical treatment — insulating in winter, breathable in summer. It naturally resists dust mites, which matters in Indian homes where allergens build up quickly in soft furnishings.
Pequra uses Indian highland wool and New Zealand Merino wool across this collection, chosen based on the texture and pile density each design needs. Both are 100% natural and biodegradable.
Our Wool Carpet Weaving Techniques
- Hand-Tufted — A tufting gun pushes wool yarn through a canvas base, creating a dense cut pile or loop pile surface. This method allows more design flexibility and is faster than hand-knotting, which keeps costs accessible without compromising the handmade character of each piece.
- Hand-Knotted — Each knot is individually tied by hand around the warp threads. Quality is measured in KPSI — knots per square inch. A higher KPSI means finer pattern detail and greater durability. Hand-knotted wool carpets are our most durable pieces, built to last generations.
- Handwoven Flatweave — Warp and weft threads are interlaced on a loom without any pile, producing a flat, reversible surface. Handwoven contemporary carpets are lighter than pile rugs, easier to clean, and work well in dining rooms, hallways, and high-traffic areas.
Which Wool Carpet Works Where
- Living Room — Woolen carpets for living rooms need to hold up to daily foot traffic while still looking sharp. A hand-knotted or hand-tufted rug with a dense pile handles both. In larger rooms where the rug needs to anchor the whole space, 6x9 ft or 8x10 ft works best. Our guide on choosing the best rug for your living room covers size, placement and style in detail.
- Bedroom — A wool carpet for the bedroom works best in high pile and neutral tones — ivory, beige, or warm grey. A 5x8 ft placed at the foot of the bed is the most popular choice. A 4x6 ft works well on one side. See our guide on the best rugs for bedroom comfort for more.
- Kids Room — Natural wool is hypoallergenic and does not harbour dust mites — one of the safer flooring choices for children. A flat-weave or low-pile wool rug is easiest to spot-clean.Browse our kids rugs collection.
Wool Carpet Sizes and Price Guide
Wool carpet price in India depends on weaving technique, size, and pile density. Hand-knotted rugs are priced higher than hand-tufted for the same size — the time each knot takes is the difference. At Pequra, pure wool carpets start at approximately ₹12,999 for a 4x6 ft size.

Caring for Your Wool Carpet
Vacuum once a week using a suction-only head — avoid beater bars, which pull wool fibres out of the pile. For spot cleaning, blot immediately with cold water and a mild wool-safe detergent. Do not rub. Hot water causes shrinkage.
New wool carpets shed lightly for the first few weeks. This is normal — loose fibres from the weaving process release under foot traffic and stop on their own. Vacuuming regularly speeds this up.
